3GPP 38.901 Calibrations at Sharp Laboratories of America (Summer 2025)

Our project repository (forked from Sionna) on GitHub

During my internship, I worked on the development and validation of advanced wireless channel models aligned with the latest 3GPP 38.901 Release 18/19 standards. These models covered a variety of environments—including indoor office, suburban macro (SMa), and near-field scenarios and involved full-scale and near-field calibrations as well as detailed base station (BS) and user terminal (UT) antenna modeling. I implemented these models in Python using NVIDIA's Sionna framework, contributing directly to the refinement of the official 3GPP TR 38.901 Release 19 specifications. In addition, I enhanced NVIDIA Sionna's code-base, a leading open-source toolkit for link-level simulations in wireless communications. My contributions included implementing new scenarios and channel models, resolving critical issues such as topology generation and outdoor-to-indoor (O2I) modeling, and introducing structural improvements that increased both robustness and accuracy of simulations. Overall, my work bridged standardization research with practical simulation tools, advancing both the state of 5G/6G channel modeling and the software infrastructure used by researchers and engineers worldwide.
