Design and Simulation of a Complete 5GHz RF Receiver for WLAN Applications (2016)
I designed and simulated a complete RF receiver for WLAN applications operating at 5 GHz, meeting the specified performance criteria. The receiver includes key components such as a Low Noise Amplifier (LNA), Mixer, Voltage-Controlled Oscillator (VCO), divide-by-two circuit, and filter. The design achieved a Noise Figure (NF) of 6 dB and an Input Third-Order Intercept Point (IIP3) of -12 dBm. It supports a receiver gain adjustable between 14 dB and 35 dB in 3 dB steps, ensuring flexibility and robustness. The frequency range for operation spans 5.2 GHz to 5.4 GHz, with a phase noise of -110 dBc/Hz at a 1 MHz offset, ensuring stable performance in wireless communication environments. The design adheres to minimal power consumption, making it suitable for energy-efficient WLAN applications.
